Optimizing Inlet Cam Timing

when doing this on the dyno ...... 10° increments all the way through to 50° which is the maximum travel, how do you not encounter knock ? at wot runs. as shown in the video for optimizing Inlet Cam Timing in the practical skills module ..

Before you even start making Dyno pulls you retard ignition timing to begin it safely. I usually retard 5-6 degrees from existing map to start with. You won't make maximum power but you'll perfectly see the curves and trends. Once you have found optimal cams position you can start adding more timing to get the best out of the engine but you still want to stay safe and be careful with ignition timing final numbers...
