kvaser leaf hs v2

Good day everyone

I am a licensed tech and wanting to learn more about can data decoding and i am looking at buying kvaser leaf light with the usb and dsub9 connector . How would you physically connect it to a can network is the an adapter that plugs into to dsub9 end or do you have to make one? I do see they have dsub9 to obd connector . But what if the data you are seeking is not present on the obd data line?

You can make an adapter, or buy one from them.

Watch out for 3rd party adapters. There are 2 different CAN standards that both use dsub9 connectors, and they are not pin compatible. So if you buy an adapter, make sure it uses the same standard as your device.

As far as data on the bus. Then yeah, most cars have multiple CAN busses. So if you're looking for something that isn't on the OBD bus, then you'll need to tap in somewhere else.
