HI gents im questioning if a wideband controller should be (innovate MTXL-PLUS) SENSOR GROUNDED on the XS LOOM link g4x sensor ground OR BATTERY GROUNDED earth provided on the innovate wideband controller! to help cure offset ground issues etc that come with bad earthing points!
i have read up pdf diagram as provided with the innovate wideband controller shows battery ground but also read there sensor ground also! (link g4x ecu)
which route would be best suggested! sorry for the confusion! i know the most obvious is whats stated on the pdf file instructions! but also curious if the link g4x XS LOOM harness also provided sensor ground also which alternative is best for smooth readings etc!
An MTXL should be grounded to the same ground Link is grounded to. The only time you'd use the sensor ground with any of the current Innovate products is if it's got a differential ground for the analogue out you're using such as on an LM2.
Do yourself a favor and very closely investigate what the Innovate is spitting out to the ECU vs what it's displaying at a couple stable and important AFRs/Lambda points - probably stoich and whatever you're going to plan as your lambda for full load (just the lambda, not actual load) and trim the offset from there. At times it used to be SIGNIFICANT on older Innovate products, I'm not sure if they've ever fixed their issues.
SMART IDEA ! i will try this that way i can accurately scale down my voltage off set to scale in my afr data ! ive only got one wire (yellow) thats my analogue wire that needs to be set to (AN volt) on my link g4x ecu and MTXL GROUND WIRE to ground to link g4x ecu body/bracket to body correct ?
if i were to use the ground wire from my MTXL WIDEBAND GAUGE to battery will it have issues you think for my off set grounds to have issue in accurate reading? or best to follow as you suggested to ecu link body gounding point!

No, you need to ground it to the same point that the main ECU power supply grounds are connected. Assuming you have a plug-in ECU, then you will need to look at a wiring diagram for the car to find the ECU ground point, often it will be engine somewhere. Definitely not the ECU case or bracket.
Also, before you waste too much time and money with Innovate, be aware they are not great widebands, I personally wouldnt bother. Their analog output accuracy is very poor, it will differ a little every time you power it up, and the also use an odd sensor control strategy which makes them very sensitive to sensor location, temperature and age. Most innovate users end up spending more money replacing sensors every few months than they could have spent on a decent controller in the first place that doesn't eat sensors.
I would also strongly suggest considering a wideband controller with CAN communication as that eliminates all of the potential errors from analog voltage signals. The Link CAN Lambda will give the best integration and sensor fail safe strategies, but the Link ECU can work with pretty much any CAN device so you arent forced to use a Link lambda if budget doesnt allow. The Haltech and ECUMaster ones are common with Link users and seem to work ok, AEM X-series is a popular low cost option, it seems a little more hit or miss in terms of quality issues or sensor life in some cases but works well for most. 14point7 Spartan 3 is another common low cost one that seems to get good feedback from Link users, it can be a bit painful to set up for some as settings need to be changed with a serial terminal.
ALOT of real helpful info here! makes alot more sense with the wiring etc with these products! in long term sounds like im going to have issues and wasting money and time to make anything last and work! my ideal behind these innovates products was to have everything fitted and setup working for tuning my own car saves me always connecting my LM2 innovate air fuel meter all the time as im road tuning, so having wires outside the car etc isnt ideal all the time hence the questions. I wanted a solided understanding of tuning my own car first! and i wanted anther way to setup others cars for wideband controllers such as my LM2 INNOVATE to tune others cars on the road so i have a system that works consistantly when using these products once ive learnt on my own car! best bet is CANBUS link less wiring to and cleaner setup also!
