I have an AEM series 1 and my car is an evo 9. I watched the lesson tuning ignition from EFI Tuning Fundamentals and I found out that the ignition table from the example in comparison with the ignition table that my ecu tuner made is very different. I would like to know if my tuner has a difrent aproach on the ignition table or if my ingition table is wrong.I am also attaching the fuel table.I would apriciate it if you tell me your opinion. Thank you in advance.
P.S. In the wizards menu of AEM series1 it only has evo8 as an option to choose. Do i choose evo 8 reqardless that i have evo 9 or what? Not to mension that all wizards are undone by the tuner.Is it important to be done? I also cannot find in the injectors menu where to set the injectors ded time
My setup is:
- Wossner pistons
- Eagle h Connecting rod
- Cosworth m2 272 camshaft
- Super tech valve spring
- Exedy twin clutch
- RC 1000 injectors
- HKS turbo
- HKS 9 45 M IL spark plug
- AEM EMS series 1
It's not strictly possible for me to say by looking at your ignition table if it's right or wrong - You really need to use the dyno to optimise the table to suit your particular engine and fuel. I've had a lot of experience tuning various 4G63's and particularly on pump gas they don't tend to take a lot of timing. That being said your timing values on boost are still a little lower than I'd expect to see.
The biggest area I'd expect to see some potential for improvement though is in how sharply the timing has been retarded as the engine first moves into boost. I'd be very surprised if the engine wouldn't take a little more timing around the 0.72- 6.34 psi load rows. The 4G63 generally doesn't like very much timing at all around peak torque so that is why you're seeing a dip around the 4000-4500 rpm region.
If you're planning to make any changes to this timing table make sure that you use quality knock detection equipment to ensure the engine isn't knocking, and only make small changes of 1-2 degrees at a time.
