Hello all,

I was wondering if someone could help check my base map. It appears that I have no power to the ignition coils. I tried setting the base timing and my timing light would not light up at all. The voltage reading for the ignition coils is zero when the car cranks. Im not sure if there's a problem with the coils/cam sensor/or I didn't assign the wiring correctly. All parts are new. The second problem is that I can't control the fuel pumps with the ECU. They stay running when I power the car on. The wiring that I selected from wiring specialties was ECU controlled fuel pumps. I included the base map and the wiring diagrams.

I am a novice tuner and have little experience setting up a full stand alone ECU. I used the knowledge from the HP classes but I am stumped on what to do next. I am open to taking the car into a tuner, if anyone can recommend someone in Southern California that specializes in Nissans/haltech

Here are some details on the vehicle.

Car: Nissan S13

Thank you for the help,

Hey Maxx,

I'm not familiar with Haltech, but I'm sure there's a way to test outputs from the software. First thing I would check is that you have spark and that injectors are clicking when testing ignition and injection output. That will confirm that they are assigned correctly in the software and that the wiring is correct. Just make sure to disconnect or disable the fuel pump so you don't inject fuel during the test.

I've used Wiring specialities harness a couple of time and I found that there were some minor mistakes in the wiring out of the box.

As far as settings go and based on the link you've provided your Trigger Type is misconfigured as a Multi Tooth setup - it should be 'Missing Tooth - Single Tooth Home' with the number of missing teeth set to 1. You also need to set the 'minimum RPM' under the Home Signal portion to 0 when you change the trigger unless you want to enable the quickstart/batch fire on startup feature.

Also your timing is locked at the moment, so don't forget to turn that off once you know you've set base timing properly - I haven't really looked at the rest of the map but at least you should be able to see if it fires properly. If it doesn't then I'd start looking at how 12v to the coils is supplied/what relay triggers it on the Wiring Specialties side of things - keep posting up here or mail me @ david@machine-ep.com if you keep running into problems.

Thank you guys for the help. I ended up taking it to a tuner. I took the car to animal auto in corona CA. The wring was pined incorrectly for the trigger system. You were right frank. The tuner got the car running. It made 275 hp 255 foot pounds of torque at 7 pounds, then the clutch started to slip haha. Installing a new clutch now. I'll let you know how it turns out.

Also, thanks David for the info on my error.
