good day everyone,

I'm curious to find out if there is a way to wire an alternator without the use of a battery light. in other words, what is used to 'excite' the alternator when you install an aftermarket dash display and the factory instrument panel is eliminated?

A resistor is wired in instead, can't recall exact recommendations.

You may be able to substitute a suitable resistor (say 50 Watt, 10 ohm or less), between the lamp pin and 12V ignition power, that would supply 1.2A to get the alternator field excited. I have often just used a lamp in the harness.

We usually reply within 12hrs (often sooner)
