Hey all! So Early this year a buddy of mine and I aquired a 1983 Caterham Super 7. Had been engine swapped with a Ztec 2.0 out of a 2000s Ford Escort. Motor is fairly well built out and came with dyno sheets for something around 240 hp. When we got the car the ecu was toasted and the wiring was a total mess of 3 ish harnesses scabbed together.

We made a new harness for it from scratch running an eaton buss box and a MegaSquirt3Pro Mini to power it. We are running into issues with the Cam sensor not reading well and we cannot figure out why. The Wiring going to the cam sensor was all shielded part of the pigtail that came with the ecu however when we started encountering issues we replaced it completely with a new shielded cable. We are still running into what looks like interference though this is a little past my personal levels of experience, hardware is where i work software is my buddys strong suite. bellow is the information his sent me along with an attached image of what we are getting for a reading.

any advice or ideas on what is possibly causing our headaches? Thanks!

The setup; MegaSquirt3Pro Mini, using DIYAutotune red threaded hall sensor at .040”. Whether using 5v vref/sensor ground/shielded sensor wire (w/ onboard 470ohm resistor) or 12v vref/chassis ground/ shielded sensor wire w/ 1k pull-up resistor, always getting very very noisy signal. Right now, everything is unplugged from system. ECU and sensor share a relay, nothing else on that relay. MS3Pro mini is grounded to - terminal as instructed.

I think you need to use a real oscilloscope to look at the crank / cam signals, and make sure your ECU is setup correctly for the type of signal.
