Hey all,

I am currently in the process of installing a Link Can/Lambda wideband setup on my redtop sr20 180sx. I see that link provide instructions on wiring it up using constant power with a relay switching from ignition power, I was wondering if there’s any reason I can’t just use the factory narrowband supply and ground and save myself installing a relay and running a new loom? From what I can find online the max amp draw is similar for the LSU 4.9 and factory narrowband.

It would be best to wire as per the instructions with its own relay so it has a reasonably direct path to the battery. It is not really about current draw - the main reason is the CJ135 chipset that we use has many more advanced sensor diagnostics than the older CJ125 that most competitors use, and a couple of these diagnostics can be falsely triggered by a sharp voltage spike on the power supply. Having it on its own source direct to the battery means it is much less likely to see large voltage spikes from other noisy devices.
