Good Evening,

I have an e46 with m52 swap. it has a set of 5150 motorsport cams, and Linkecu Xtreme wire in ecu. I have a strong crank position signal but no cam signal. I am thinking at this point the issue is in the sensor wiring or the sensor itself. I have 12v at pin 1, sensor signal reads around 3.2v with the sensor unplugged and ground on pin 3. Can confirm this wiring is correct. I also have the cam trigger set to hall effect, pull up resistor turned on, trigger event set to falling edge and sync mode set to cam level. Can these setting be confirmed

Hey Mark,

I can't confirm this as I'm no BMW expert, but after a quick bit of research, it looks like the stock M52 cam sensor uses a very unique method for measuring the engine position. The stock ECU sends a signal to the sensor which then alters that signal before sending it back. I'll be honest, this is the first time I've even heard of this. The Haltech site has some good info and basically says this sensor can't be used with any aftermarket ECU and a standard hall effect sensor needs to be used (apparently a M50 sensor can be swapped in).

This would explain the issue you're having, your setup is most likely correct for a standard hall sensor and once you swap out the M52 sensor you should get a good signal.

Keep me updated on this, I'm keen to know if this is the issue.
