Why is high impedance the most common? Why does Nissan use a low impedance injector on the RB26 for the skyline? What is the benefit of use one vs the other?
The reason is mostly historical, early fuel injection often required higher current to open the pintle for larger size injectors. So the premium injectors came in low impedance. However this required more expensive peak & hold injector driver hardware in the ECU (or the use of current limiting resistors). For the last 15 years (probably more), we have been able to get plenty of high performance high impedance injectors that flow high volume and work with the less expensive saturated injector drivers.
So you need to be careful to only use low-impedance injectors of the the ECU (or wiring) is designed for them. That's the only rule.
