Why is high impedance the most common? Why does Nissan use a low impedance injector on the RB26 for the skyline? What is the benefit of using one vs the other?

Buenas Stan!

Espero haber resuelto tu duda! ✌️

Just a correction, the voltage is the same, the current draw is higher on a low impedance injector.

At 14V

High impedance injector (Saturated) with 16Ω nominal resistance = 0.875A and 12.25w

Low impedance injector (Peak Hold) with 1.6Ω nominal resistance = 8.75A and 122.5w

A Saturated injector can use a lighter gauge wire and doesn't generate as much heat in operation compared to a Peak Hold injector, this is also why a low of the high flow Peak Hold Injectors require the use of an external drive box, to get the heat out of the ECU and provide a higher current sink than some ECU's can manage, especially when multiple injectors are used per cylinder.

Doing testing on both types of injectors, the modern Saturated injectors open at similar or faster rates than the peak hold injectors.
