you talked about weight and bulk of a wire being a potential problem, but if that's not an issue. If I'm not building a race car. does the size of the wire increase or decrease the effectiveness of the energy transfer?

Hi Jonathan,

In simple terms, larger wire is more effective. As conductor size increases, resistance decreases, which means less voltage drop and less energy lost as heat in the wire.

From a purely electrical standpoint, bigger wire is generally better. The reason we don't just use the biggest wire possible everywhere comes down to the trade offs discussed in the course, namely cost, weight, bulk, and ease of installation.
