Hello, what distinguishes oil pressure and return galleys, as well as water, when looking at a block surface?

Hi Daniel,

Here's an exemple for the Nissan RB Engine, which is a closed deck. You can see the water jacket ports are all around the cylinders and the biggest. The oil returns are smaller and further away from the cylinders. Finally the oil feeds are the smallest (this particular one having a restrictor in it) to prevent too much oil going in the cylinder head.

Hello, thankyou for the answer!

I attached pictures of a block and head. Marked on the block same color scheme as you used, but then looking at the head i am getting a bit confused again 😅 could you help me understand?

I'm not familiar with that engine and I don't want to send you in a wrong direction, so what I would do is use an air blow gun in the ports and see where it comes out.

Thats not a bad idea, will do that, why did I not think about that 😊

I just want to be able to figure it out myself. I suppose the oil return would end up in the sump, oilfeed by the oilfilter?

It is a xu10j4rs btw.

You are correct, also water jackets would end up in the water pump or thermostat housing.

👍 thanks for the help and quick answers
