Hey all,

I was wondering should I oil up the cylinder bores as I’m filing the rings and taking them in out during the fitting process

Sorry for not replying to this earlier, I missed this thread unfortunately.

No, you don't need to worry about oiling up the bores when you're installing and removing the rings to check the gap when filing them. The number of times the ring is in and out of the bore is a tiny percentage of the number of times it'll slide up and down it once the engine is running. They're easier to file 'dry' aswell.
