Hey,
First post on here, miss a good old forum (reddit and facebook just aren’t the same).
I’ve started a new build which is listed below:
Early “Thick Rod” 1UZFE 4L V8
ARP Head Studs
Megasquirt 2
4 Speed Manualised Auto
Compound Turbo GTB2056VK (Electronic Actuator to open vanes via ECU control) & GT3071R
Methanol Injection
Running E85
1000cc Injectors
Walbro 525 Fuel Pump
3UZFE Coils
Removed distributors. Power on Plug
This will be going in a GU Nissan Patrol Chassis with D22 Navara Single Cab body. Aiming for 750nm and 500hp at the crank.
After some advice on those who have experience with compound setups as the easiest plumbing, placement of methanol, placement of sensors, waste gates and BOVs.
Any help appreciated.
I feel like those turbos are probably too small and too close in size to give a good result if run compound.
Understand you are probably aiming at low rpm torque but I think they will choke that motor a bit.
On ethanol you will generate exhaust flow like a 4.4L motor, I honestly think you will get 99% of what you want just with the 3071 [EDIT, it can't even flow enough air, you need 3582R ] without the headaches of vane control, PR balancing and IMP:EMP based fuel tables to make a complex compound system run well.
Have you mapped the split PR? Looks like if it peak around factory 5400rpm you won't need more than ~23psi to make that power. That's very much in the realm of big filter in airbox with cold feed and bellmouth on turbo inlet, split pulse turbine housing, efficient exhaust being a far more sensible option. You will almost certainly make less power with more air while putting more load on mechanical components and more heat stress on everything trying to compound those turbos. If you are desperate to bring it up harder on the stall just run and enrichment retard button/launch mode setup.
Anything with multiple gears is really a waste of time looking at compound if you need much under 2 bar boost with modern turbos.
You would probably be better off with a single GT35R, BWSXE62 or a G30-770/clone.
