Hey guys,
What pistons are people using on 600+whp 9000rpm sr20vet builds?
What brand/series?
What wall thickness wrist pins? 0.15, 0.2, 0.23, 0.25"?
Also for a vet, must you use pistons advertised as VET or do people use DET pistons that happen to have valve reliefs?
Currently considering getting a set of JE ultras made up, if not maybe some nitto pistons which look like the CP heavy duty forging which has extra material around the pin boss.
I seen HPA's sr86 they had a cp piston with what I believe was a 0.200" wrist pin flex the pin boss which caused a cracked piston.
What's everyones experience been with JE, nitto, mazworx pistons? Any others worth considering? Or any pistons that I need to stay away from.
The engine will be a 600whp street engine that sees some track work. Revving to 9000rpm ideally. The rest of the engine is fairly well spec'd out with p12 head, billet caps/brace, 1/2" head studs, m11 mains mazworx, 184st cams, +1/+2 in/ex valves, darton sleeves ect. Has anyone got pictures of the pin boss area of the mazworx-cp pistons?
I have darton sleeves so I could go big bore 89-90mm however am definitely concerned with having such thin cylinder walls and head gasket sealing issues. Anyone have much experience running these size pistons in a street application?
What headgasket has everyone had best success with for these large bore SR's? Mazworx headgasket the best? Or does everyone go down the route of copper head gaskets?
Thanks
