Talk about engine building here. New products, tricky questions or showcase your work - If it's engine building related it's welcome here.
I was assembling an aluminum gen 4 ls block and i noticed this when i was checking ring gap. Will this be fine or should i scrap the block? The bolt comes from a bolt hole for the bell housing and Im assuming it was my fault when i put it on the engine stand but again this is my first build.
Im at the same point in my first build as you are (Gen 4 LS2) and mine has exactly the same hole. I think they were machined like that. I posted it elsewhere and all of the advice is that its fine to run.
Yeah, that's not in a section of the bolt bore that sees any appreciable stress.
