good day all,

what's the correct way to adjust cam timing on a 4G63?

is it by turning the adjustable gears itself or by turning the crank while the bolts on the gear are loose?

i always thought it was by turning the adjustable gears itself but, tomei's instructions require the crankshaft to be turned when the bolts are loose.

will either method yield the same end results?

Either method will achieve the same aim/ All we are trying to do is adjust the relationship between the cam position and the cam gear. I personally loosen the vernier cam gear locking bolts and turn the camshaft by using the hex that is cast into the cam profile. This requires the rocker cover to be removed but it would be normal to have this off during the cam degreeing process.

We usually reply within 12hrs (often sooner)
