Hi everyone,
I'm working on a calibration for a VQ35DE engine equipped with aftermarket headers and an upgraded air filter element.
Since the volumetric efficiency has changed due to the breathing mods, I'm planning to make a small and safe adjustment to the intake VVT maps—specifically adding around a 3-degree advance in the lower-to-mid RPM range to improve low-end torque and throttle response.
I would love to get some insights from experienced tuners here:
What is the best approach or formula when calculating VVT adjustments on a VQ35DE Hitachi ECU after installing headers?
Are there specific load/RPM cells where I should be careful not to over-advance to avoid negative valve overlap or loss of dynamic compression?
Any tips or recommended strategies for a clean VVT calibration on these VQ setups would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
