Hi Fellow HPAers

Just in the process of a fairly prolonged rebuild of my VN Commodore race car. Have tackled all of the tasks to date by myself except items that required machining.

Need to give the steering rack a rebuild as its leaking out the rack bearing seals into the gaiters. I'm able to purchase the basic rebuild seal kit but the Gregory's workshop manuals only list how to repair the manual non power steer rack rebuild methodology. And state for power steer rack leave it to a specialist.

Given the various tasks I've done to date with engine rebuild, wiring etc. all thanks to learnings from HPA info has anyone tackled doing their own powers steer racks rebuilds?

The biggest obstacle I can see is actually the specs for preload etc. Have found an exploded view of parts but nothing else.

Any advice from you guys would be greatly appreciated.

At a quick look over, it looks like you can probably use the manual spec's for the rack, as if you're doing a simple seal replacment all the relevant parts seem the same - but i would definitely check that diagram against the manual to double check that.

Many thanks Gordy for taking time to reply to my post and providing advice, its greatly appreciated.

We usually reply within 12hrs (often sooner)
