Hi there,

I have a brand new 4b11 block that I need machined to insert my Darton Mid Sleeve and other machining work. Anyone know a good machine shop for inserting sleeves and boring it for oversize pistons? First time building an engine, would be good to have a machine shop that I can discuss with and also patient as I'm still learning.

At the moment, I can think of Hytech Engines as they are in manukau, local to me.

I'd suggest Marsh Motorsport and Taylor Automotive in Auckland as alternatives to Hytech. I've got nothing bad to say about Hytech by the way, just providing alternatives. You want to ensure whoever you use is experienced with installing sleeves as if the machining work to the block isn't perfect, the sleeves are likely to drop in service and cause more problems than they solve. I'd contact each and ask them about the job you want done and make sure they're confident they can provide a robust result. In the perfect world Darton recommend their sleeves are fitted using a CNC machining centre for guaranteed accuracy.

We usually reply within 12hrs (often sooner)
