Hi!. I would like to ask information about manufacturers for Portable Oil Pressure gauges. What led me to this question is the fact that i used to work in a motorsport oriented workshop specialized in Ford Sierra Cosworth cars (2wd,4wd, Rs, YB Engine) which they sufferd multiple times mechanical failures. One time was 100% due to low oil pressure(Oil Pump Failed. Even though they used gauges from medium to High quality such as VDO, Pro-Comp ,AEM the were not sure about the actual value of the oil pressure if was True/Correct (So the could be sure about the engines interanal components status and what caused the other failures ) so that led to difficult situation between the shop owners, the master mechanic (i was a working student- helper) and the machine shop. I really believed that a good quality portable gauge could solve the problem, because later in time it tured out that the sensor and the wiring were faulty.

TBH, IMO the only sure way is a quality mechanical gauge - and visual confirmation that oil is actually getting to the top end*! You can buy a universal test gauge and adaptor kit with flex line that is totally "portable", and independent of the actual vehicle(s).

*Nick's Garage had a recent case where cam' bearings were incorrectly fitted to a MOPAR engine, and blocked off the oil supply to the cylinder heads, even though there was ample oil pressure on the gauge - fortunately it was caught in time.

I guess that was the Nick of time.

Cool, thanks alot
