I noticed that when you got your Nissan block was quite dirty and oily when you started. When you got it back from the machine shop it looked brand new clean and had no staining of the aluminum. I had my aluminum block washed at my machinist’s shop and it came back still clean but stained. What specific cleaning process did you specify to get it that spotless?

We had the block vapour blasted which uses an abrasive media in high pressure water. It's similar to sand blasting or media blasting but is much gentler on the surface and gives a finish that's essentially like brand new.
