I the process of building a 4B11T for an Evo X and I'm stuck on which gap to go with for my 86.5mm pistons.
In the piston box is a white sheet with "General Clearance Guidelines". In each piston ring set box is a pink sheet with clearances. On the Weisco website is a guide and that has the same information as the pink sheet.
The issue comes as the documents in the box differ and I'm unsure which to follow.
For my application it's mildly tuned to and won't exceed 30psi or 500 crank bhp.
Based on the pink doc/ website, for the top ring, this suggests 0.0050-0.0055 (street moderate/ turbo - circle track). Whereas the general document suggests 0.0070 (medium boost 15-30psi).
This equates out to 0.475mm gap using 0.0055" and 0.605mm using 0.0070"
I know the old saying of if it's loose you'll know. If it's too tight, everyone will know.
Thoughts before I go mad with the ring file??
