I'm using an AEM Engine Position Module (EPM) and according to my tuner my ECU was picking up noise. So, I've decided to route the EPM wiring away from any power lines on the opposite side of the vehicle and shield the lines. The EPM has 4 wires: Crank, Cam, Power, & Ground. Which wires should I shield? Also, when I ground the shield should I use vehicle ground or sensor ground? thank you in advance

Hi Johnson,

I would use separate shielded cables for the crank and cam signals, the ground should be terminated at the signal ground of the ECU. I would terminate the shield at ECU ground. The EPM uses 2 hall effect sensors that share power and ground. If you have any further questions please feel free to ask.

Are you sure about grounding the shield on a signal ground?

If the EPM doesn't have a specific shield drain pin, I'd rather ground it to chassis ground than grounding it to signal ground - unless the EPM requires it that way.

We usually reply within 12hrs (often sooner)
