Discussion and questions related to the course Practical Motorsport Wiring - Club Level
I have a fluid cooler with two small fans that the manufacturer states are rated for a combined 7.2 A. Is a 7.5 A rated DTM connector suitable for this, or should I step up to a DT connector? I don't have much experience with these connectors, so I'm not sure if there are any deratings that should be applied when selecting the correct connector.
If that's the actual current consumption and not just inrush I'd run a DT. I tend to bake in a 10% safety factor in to my circuits - if it IS inrush, coin flip.
I am planning to measure the current and try to figure out if the rating is continuous or max. But I am leaning towards moving up to the DT connector. Thanks for the input.
