Good day

I’m about to start planning out my loom and I’m not sure about the position of the ground and power so living within the loom.

My ecu is inside the car. So in my mind if I put the splicing within the engine bay I will cut down on the amount of wire used and running through the bulkhead. Compared to placing the splicing inside the car side of the loom.

What is best ? Or, are both options no different and it’s down to how I want to build it ??

It's all about the current capabilities of the bulkhead connector. I often only have a single pin for a 5V supply and 0V signal ground, and splice things on the engine side. But if you are talking about chassis ground and the power supply for the coils and / or ECU, then you might need several pins to handle the current. and you splice them on both sides of the connector.

I’m not going to use a bulkhead connector as I already have large grommet position I can easily pass the loom plugs through. Plus this saves quite a bit of money.

Iam remaking my loom as Iam moving my ecu from the engine bay into the cabin area of the car. It’s a mk8 civic. It has a union point on the original loom that has 4 wires being branched out. Then it also has one engibe earth branch point.
