what would be the appropriate size wire gauge to run for the 3/4 pin sense connector?
20–22 AWG is perfectly fine for the 3/4-pin alternator connector. Those circuits are only sense and control inputs to the regulator, so the current draw is very low and there’s no need to run larger wire.
