Hey guys so I'm going to start gathering my supplies needed to build my own harness and just wanted to know what all needs shielded wire.? I have a 2jzgte vvti in my 92 Nissan 240sx. I know that the two knock sensors need shielded, but is there any thing else that will need to be?

Hello,

You will need shielded wire for your crank sensor, cam sensor and knock sensors.

awsome ty very much

so the VVTI sensor wont need shielded correct nor will like a flex fuel sensor either?

"so the VVTI sensor wont need shielded correct"

Yes as per Adrian's reply the cam sensor will need to be shielded. No for the flex fuel.

Hello William! Adrian hits the nail on the head here. Cam, Crank, and Knock sensors will need to be shielded. I think there is a brief overview of this in the Wiring Fundamentals Course.

For Flex Fuel, I have seen harnesses supplied with shielded Signal Return wiring, but am unsure if they're necessarily needed.

William,

For the VVT-i solenoid, 2 22awg M22759/32 wires were used for the construction of my loom and it works perfectly fine. The shielded wire is typically used for critical engine signals.

Thank you for the info, I actually went with 20awg m22759/32 wire. I ment to do 22awg but it's ok.

We usually reply within 12hrs (often sooner)
