Discussion and questions related to the course 3D Modelling & CAD for Motorsport.
Hey everyone! I`m right now going through CAD and 3D modeling course. I had my first task, to make exhaust manifold flange from gasket. So my friend didn`t had an access to scanner, so i asked him to put it on square-line paper and take a picture straight from top. Okay, picture wasn`t straight, but i managed to fix it by asking some measurements specifically on turbocharger side.
But the question is - can i import my canva into Fusion, and tell Fusion that 1 square on paper is 5mm? So i match Fusions dimensions with my canva. Otherwise i need to change and check canvas ratio by few points until i get matching size with Fusion.
Thank you, in advance!
EDIT: Also just so i dont need to make new topic. Does Fusion offers engraving option? In example, if i want to engrave my name on some part. I looked, couldnt find, but im also just learning, so maybe i dont know where to look. Tnx!
Hi Ralfs,
Yes, after you've imported the canvas, find it in your browser and right click then select calibrate.
The calibrate tool works by clicking 2 points and setting the distance between them. For you're example I would select a span across many 5mm squares and then set the distance depending on the number squares selected. A larger span will give you a more accurate example.
Yes, fusion has an emboss function under the "create" tab on the solid modeling toolbar.
For this you'll need a sketch profile and a face you want to emboss or engrave this into
