The course is great however there are a lot of very frustrating moments when the narration just says to do something, whilst the mouse is off clicking tools and other things, it is extremely hard to follow along with as i look at my screen and then look back as the instruction isn't "click the line tool, then create two parallel lines" it is "use the line tool to make the profile", which when heard for the first time the initial reaction is, what profile? where do the lines go? then the dimensions are done on screen, but not said in the narration (one line is 22m, but nothing is said, is it random and will be fixed later? does this need to be 22m now?)

Like I said the course is very informative, but as you are reading it off a prompter and not sitting at the computer narrating, there is a disconnect that adds difficulty and frustration to the learning curve as i have to re-watch things just to see where the mouse clicked (I can't exactly remember where each tool is i only learned the location of a day prior and then went about a full day of work, to then come back to this course)

for instance 2:47-3:25 on "Revolves" might as well be in Spanish as it doesn't narrate what is happening on the screen, and is someones description of what is happening that has prior knowledge of what the end product looks like. I dont know what the front of this object is, i dont know where its mating face is or anything else.

If it was narrated as someone was doing it, they'd realise that on-screen it's just a couple of lines, and to someone that hasn't made the object before, there is no real telling what anything is.

Still enjoying the hell out of it, i love this shit, just a little frustrating to go back and forth to figure what the hell just happened lol.

Hi Matty,

Thanks for the feedback. Completely understand.

We'll for sure keep this in mind moving forward and see what we can do to help with future CAD work we present.

What you're talking about was considered while we were making the course.

The problem is it's very difficult to cover this much information in that format without making the modules very very long, and it's already quite a lengthy course.

Basically, we were trying to keep it digestible at the expense of describing every step in detail.

If you can follow along through each module, you should be able to understand each step by the end of that module.

As you get more experienced it'll all be more familiar.

If you finish modules and still don't understand why something was done, I'll do my best to clarify here.

cheers,

Connor

Thanks for the reply!

once the object is made, it makes complete sense.

I've also just come across a little bug too, in the "Flanges" video at around the 8 minute mark when we're making the lofted flange, it would not allow me to select OK to create the lofted flange, I started a new document twice and made exactly the same as on-screen (everything was fine and identical, just the OK button was not clickable)

However, i found if i made the lofted flange, and then clicked on another tool, that acted as an "OK" button and it created the lofted flange.

Not sure if it's a program bug? Just a little workaround if anyone is getting the same thing.

Usually, when we can't click "ok" to create the feature there's something preventing the feature from generating, so we probably need to change the design or preferences of the tool a bit to make it work.

However, this does sound like a potential bug.

Thanks for mentioning that, I'll try keep it in mind if anyone comes across the same issue.

We usually reply within 12hrs (often sooner)
