hey gents whats everyone best approach in tuning wrx gc8 with link g4x ecu with stock oem sensors including AFM no map sensor approach
having no air temp sensor!
ive started off with the base maps provided in the drop down menus and included my own map and adjusted afr targets little differently car idles smooth etc but does require alot of work.
i noticed air temp sensor is set to error 50 degrees which is basically not connected! will this effect my tune without one?
There is no proper MAF based fuel strategy in Link, it is intended to use speed density or Alpha-n and as far as I know all GC8's that our plug-ins are designed for have a factory fitted MAP sensor. I would highly recommend an air temp sensor as they typically have fairly wild manifold temp swings in subies.
with the factory MAP sensor in the wrx gc8 is the link ecu fuel focus on AFM system or MAP system or both as reference.
With the air temp sensor i will have to hook up one either to link or oem harness for reference and help smooth out tune.
The most common method and the way the provided base map is set up is using a strategy widely referred to as "Speed Density" to determine air or fuel flow. Speed density uses RPM, MAP and manifold air temp.
