Hi there

Ive been looking through the GPR package and there doesnt seem to be a nice way to fully control vtec. I spoken to my local Motec dealer and he's is saying some custom firmware from MOTEC direclty might be the way to go. saying they can add the features im askiing for for a fee. (although ive also been told by another motec dealer in America this isn't the case).. how are you guys switching ? (i did search but could'nt really find much)

I have no issue buying a partner package as long as i dont loose features from the GPR package and assuming that the package owner doesnt want me to spend on level 3 logging. pro analylsis , plus m1 build licence etc etc.... the list goes on for the quote ive had, basically $10000 for me to have what i wanted.. im sure its worth it for a the highest of motorsport, but i only want decent vtec switching :-)

The dedicated k20c pachage has 'rocker' control under exhaust cam. im not sure if its possible to use this package and if there is anything missing from the standard GPR package if i did ?

obvioulsy it can just be switched on and off but im looking for a little more control.

Rpm high and low switch logic with a hysteresis as a miniumim

But also if possingle.

Map high and low switch logic with hysteresis

Ideally oil pressure confirmation that vtec is engaged.

Engine oil pressure minimum switch on pressure

Minimum speed

coolant pressure

Any help would be greatly appreciated..

Thank you.

As a side note, there doesnt seem to be any general purpose maps with switch logic ?

i can use other systems eg nitrous control to operate any a output, but i cant rename it so ive got to remeber that i used nitrous for something completely unrelated? are there just no GP maps that can be labled ?

the aux ooutputs are pretty limited. and you can't put in your own logic as its set by each output..

Hi Ian,

Does your engine have switching for cam on the Exhaust as well as the Inlet cam?

The GP Packages have some basic controls for Inlet Cam Switching, that could be used for the Exhaust if not already being used for the Inlet Cam, this covers most of the items that you have requested that are required for Cam switching.

With the custom Package, there is two ways that this is done, either the developer uses their M1 as the development ECU, and then generates a Partner Package that is then sold by them as a different license, usually at a comparable cost as the matching GP Package, or they get a M1 Development License for your M1. This is a more expensive process, as they will usually also want you to have the higher levels of logging on the M1 so that the required channels can be logged at a high rates during testing.

Hi there.

thank you for the reply.

its a standard Honda k20a2 Ivtec setup, this is oil pressure fed system that engages a different cam profile on inlet and exhaust.

Normally just an output switch from the ecu.

It also has a continuously variable inlet camshaft. Nothing on the exhaust.

where are these settings as for the life of me I can’t find them ? I’m looking under firmware on the new software.

The cam control under camshaft bank 1 requires an input position resource ?

even then the setup inside the settings doesn’t lend them self to an on and off switch cam?

do you happen to have an example of setup?

Thank you.
