Hello!

I am new to tuning but have always been interested. I recently got an R33 RB25DET which has forged internals, big turbo, upgraded fuel system, 5.5:1 comp. etc. and was tuned on a Haltech to 400 hp 2018. Since then it has not been very weel maintained and there is wiring going everywhere and nowhere. Loose connectors and poorly crimped wiring. The previous owner put a MaxxECU race into it instead, but wasn't very knowledgeable. It is in a pretty rough place and requires some work, but still delivers good power at the top of the rev range.

I see that it's missing VCT, knock sensors and oil pressure to the ECU. Which is at the top of my list to get working. But I reckon it shouldn't hesitate this much at idle because of these inputs missing? It is running on pump E85.

Why I'm creating this post is to see if there are any more experienced tuners here who can lead me in the right direction for why it's running so rough and misfiring at idle. Especially at cold start. Is there anything obviously wrong which can be seen in the log file?

Startup log and MaxxECU save

Very thankful for all opinions!

This looks like its an almost untouched Maxx base map for 1300cc injectors on E85 - you can see that it's pegged at its max lambda correction at ~33% for that idle cell to even reach ~.9 lambda when its commanding .98.

Not all base maps are created equal, and your configuration doesn't suit this base map at all - at the very least match your injector data, fuel type, and engine specs - even though one of my next projects is an RB running a Maxx, I've never even bothered to see how well sorted their VE or ignition tables are.

lastly - given how poorly setup this is quadruple check that your base timing is correct. Nobody will be able to tell you that from a log.

Thank you very much David. There is much knowledge to take in when beginning tuning and your answer really helps! I will dig into base timing and then try to correct the tables after having wired in the knock sensors and oil pressure (and confirmed fuel delivery specs).
